Extending a Comcast system

I need to extend the wifi in a 2 story home using a Comcast Technicolor TC8305C gateway. Getting spotty signal on one side of second floor. Gateway is on 1st floor. Will a N300 EX2700 work in this situation? Can I set the SSID and PW the same to make roaming around the house with a mobil as smooth as possible?
