Check into your router and what issues it has with extenders. Not all routers work well with extenders or they need to set static addresses to extenders. The router is what's assigning ip addresses. the extender is just the go between.
If its the router causing the issue, buying a different extender isn't going to fix the problem.

Replaced the old Actiontec router with an Arris NVG468MQ. Setup with the Arris virtual WPS button and the extender is working as advertised.
