Firmware Update failure ex 6200

I tried to update firmware for ext 6200.  Had to bypass Genie.  After downloading the correct update I tried to select it from my desktop as directed and it simply fails to update.  When searching for update by ignoting the downloaded file it simply spins on and on without success.  How do I successfully update the firmware without killing the extender?
