getting Nighthawk Ex7000 to search for signal after dropping

Nighthawk EX7000 range extender with most recent software have two wifi connected Nest cameras, near each other, at the edge of the wifi range. when booted up the range extender has no problem finding the cameras once every two days, it drops them. If it only drops one camera, it can find it again, but if it drops both, it has to be turned off and then restarted. I suspect it stops looking after the drop. is there a way to get it to look using the software settings

The ex7000 doesn't look for devices to connect to. Devices connect to it. :) What firmware are you running? most recent won't help the people who might refer to this later.

You've stated that you're on the edge of wifi range.

Do you have the extender wired in as an access point or configured as a wireless extender?

Have you looked into the fastlane setup for the EX7000?

Other option is the "one wifi name" feature of the ex7000. If you're cameras are being switched from 2.4ghz to the 5ghz (which has less range), they might connect and then loose connect because 5ghz doesn't propagate as far. Upon reboot, it probably defaults devices to the 2.4ghz and then switches over later as needed/load balancing.  Try disabling this function and see if it helps.

Another thought is if there is wifi interference, changing channels can help. on the 2.4ghz channels 1-6-11 are recommended. 5ghz, do a scan and see whats open to use.

here's your support page, it has the manual that walks through what I've asked/recommended about.
