I'm having issues with my setup and wondering if anyone can help. I would like to connect the extender to the router via ethernet, but when doing this, I'm only able to wirelessly connect to the inte...

What firmware is on your EX7700?
If you're having issues, I'd recommend re-installing the firmware, factory resetting, and installing using the installation wizard (not wps).
What modem is the R7900 connected to?
I'm not a fan of running multiple extenders. to many issues happen. If you're thinking you want more/better coverage, a full mesh system usually works much better in terms of performance and stability.

Thanks for your response. EX7700 is running on V1.0.0.206 and the R7900 is on V1.0.3.18. Umm not sure on the modem, it's running via ethernet directly to the Verizon Fios box outside my home. And yeah mesh might be the next step, since this extender didn't help all that much which is a shame, I should've returned it when I first got it but the internet connection/speed has gotten worse over time.

You said the router connection is stable?
Maybe its interference. You have tried changing the router's wifi channel for 5ghz?
you can also change which 5ghz signal the extender connects to. maybe there's less issues on the higher band versus the lower 5ghz band (or vice versa)

Yeah router connection is reliable - the router is in the office, connected directly to the verizon box outside the office and inside we have a dock hardwired to the router which is reliable with decent speeds (no where near gigabit, but that's an issue we need to take up with Fios).
I know we get a lot of interference (live on a block of rowhomes in a city), and have played with the channels quite a bit. Do you know why the higher end bands are not available on the extender? The router is set to 36/153 on 5g/5g2, but for the extender I only have the option of selecting from 36 40 44 48, and 52 56 60 64 DFS channels - I currently have the extender on 48.
Either way, I'll perform the hard reset on the extender today and see how it responds with ethernet from the router. And if it's still messy I'll look into mesh systems.
Thanks for all your help!!

Quick update - hard reset the extender, and this time set it up as an access point vs. extender with another network name. So far results are amazing, I went from 20 down to 200 down connecting to the new network on the extender. Will test coverage and streams/smart devices/etc
