Hide Access Point from local shared network
Hi!
I just setted-up a WN604 Access Point, but now, I see it in my local network – on a Mac – in the shared devices window.
How can I hide it from here?
Thanks

- DidjoNoviceSoo… I'm the only one to have the AP in my network? (Which is a very strange thing, no?)
- jmizoguchiVirtuosoI'm not really understanding your point...
- DidjoNoviceHi!
Thanks for your answer.
It's actualy pretty simple: I see my access point in my local network list (as a computer, on a Mac, in Network as a shared PC computer), and since I use this list very often to know who's on/offline, I'm looking for a way to hide it from this list…
Is it possible? (And why is it here?)
Thanks! - jmizoguchiVirtuosoAccess point has nothing do to your questions
Also device listed under finder in Mac or PC are bases
You can not really control to hide it while you can access it - DidjoNoviceIf I can access it, it got to be here, that's right… But there's no way to access anything here, nor in Guest or with any passwords… That's why I'm wondering why the AP is sending “folder sharing” informations.
- jmizoguchiVirtuosoAp has nothing to do with it
You can have all devices on Ethernet cable will do the same
If shared the folder on computer then all other will see it - DidjoNoviceHm, it's the only device I see of all my connected devices (other brand Access Points, switches, printer…).
That's why I wonder :)
(But to appear here, it means it's sending AFP or SMB data, isn't it?) - smessAspirant

I have a WNDR3400 and a access point behind it and I am experiencing the same exact thing you are. I finally put the wifi in ghost mode and yes you can see it but there is a little yellow symbol that says "you might not be able to see this". Interesitng setup, all I can say is I agreed with the others on this thread until I experienced what appears to be the same as you did.
My router and AP are running faster, smoother, cleaner than ever thanks to what I learned from you all on here. - jmizoguchiVirtuosoRather say Ghost mode it would be more terminology correct to say SSID broadcast is hidden or SSID broacast is disable

If you are using windows base and SMB. AFP is for apple computers.
You can hide SSID broadcast but I don't that was what you wanted correct? You want to hide shared folder that shared in your network but want to hide which is not going happen
