Hooking up a new network

Greetings,

I am trying to setup a new network and, as always with computer issues, am having issues.

My first attempt included a Linksys router and three Linksys RE1000 extenders. That failed miserabley! Back to the store they went. I was told to stick with Netgear equipment and so here I am.

Now, try to remember that I am even below a computer illiterate. The house has quite a bit of wiring already installed and it seems to me that it can be used to reach my objective, service throughout the entire house. In a closet the modem connects to a Netgear Prosafe VPN Firewall FVS318. From there all outputs (10?) run throughtout the house. There must be a way to use the existing wires to provide access throught??? Question is, what would be the best and most cost efficent way to do this? And, of course, real simple! Thanks in advance for any input you may have!

Oh, and I have looked into the Powerline equipment but with the existing wiring I wasn't sure it was the way to go???
