How do I extend a wifi signal down a long driveway?

Hi,

I live off-grid (residential). My driveway is 1600 feet long. I'd like to see if its viable to extend my wifi signal to the front of the driveway. I'd like to install video surveillance cameras at the front of the driveway (gate) and a few locations down the road. I would need to power the extenders with solar / batteries (which I can do separately). I would need to have them stay within range of each other during snow storms.

Questions:

What are my product options for extenders?
What is the range on the extenders?
What power is required during active vs non-active state? Do they consume the same power at all times or only when transmitting to/from the edge device? Does power depend on data streams?
Are there any new products or technologies coming out that may make this easier or cheaper?
