How to have my extender have its own channels separate from my main router.
Trying to get my extender to show as a EXT and separate from my main router on discoverable WiFi connections for my devices. Tried changing the SSID on the nighthawk app with no luck. My extender is...

That's not a Netgear model number.
AC2200 is not a reliable guide to model number. Many devices come with an AC tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and other brands, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.
Look at the label on the device for the model number. It is probably something like EX####

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.
