You could log into the access point and check it.
Or you could simply change the access points SSID so you can tell which you're connected to.

I tried things a second time and I see that you are absolutly correct about being able to "see" devices that are using the access point. (I don't know how I missed that. Sorry.)
Once I am logged on to the access point then its simply a matter of ....
Expanding "Settings"
Clicking on "Connected Devices"
And then scrolling down to "WiFi Devices"I can't thank you enough.
