I want to keep my extender in repeater mode and not have to put it into AP mode
If you have (super)fast internet (ie. 250Mbps or above), do you really have to worry about a drop in speed of the extender's WiFi, if the extender is set up as a repeater? Even though the repeater sp...

There are other usages for a network, different from plain Internet access. Think about your own network storage, for server applications, ...

I don't really want to set this extender up in AP mode because it looks a bit complicated and doesn't fit in with my requirements. I prefer to be able to roam and auto-connect to whichever network is in range (either router's or extender's) 'basically' seamlessly, without having to manually re-connect to a WiFi network when I move around the house.
Nothing the AP mode is prohibiting. Access point mode does allow the traffic between the AP and the router using the direct Ethernet connection. The only complexity added is a network cable. Major difference is that your wireless traffic does not travel twice over the air and the single radio of the extender.

Thanks for the reply!
I might use my NAS again in the future. Would it be best to run this extender in AP mode or continue with the repeater type mode? - I plan on upgrading my internet connection to just over 250Mbps too.
Like I said, I don't like the idea of having to lose connection from router or extender zones, which I understand is likely to happen when moving round the house when extender is put in AP mode - from what I understand because you have to give the router and extender different SSID's.
When I said 'complicated', I guess I like the way the extender administrates right now in repeater mode (I use same router & extender SSID and password), and I have no idea how to set up the AP mode, but did realise that it involves sticking a cable between the router and extender. Have you any links to AP setups/admin screenshots? I think this separate SSID thing kinda puts me off.
