When you setup the EX8000, did you use the wps method of setup?
Or did you use the installation assistant?
when you use the assistant, theres a section that asks you to extend both the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz. Uncheck the 2.4ghz. You'll still be able to use it but it'll force the extender to use the 5ghz dedicated backhaul. Tends to function smoother.
You're using the same ssid on the 2.4ghz for the router and the extender?
Does the new router have a "smart connect" or single ssid function?
If so, enable that and follow how I described above with the "uncheck 2.4ghz"
