I used the nighthawk app for my set up. I am using the same SSID for my 2.4 GHz on the extender as I have on the router. I don’t know if the router has a smart connect or a single SSID function. The router was provided by my Internet provider so I don’t know

Wowsa, there isn't much for info on that router. There's a basic spec sheet/user guide for quick setup but I couldn't find much for an actual manual even on the FCC website.
Not sure what to tell you in regards to the router. Its kind of a gray zone.
Try the reinstall but follow the procedure I outlined earlier.
