Most of us buy an access point to either add wireless capablities to an existing wired network, or to extend an existing wireless network, it can also be used to create a wireless bridge.
Which one of these goals would you achieve by connecting it to the PC?
To secure the wireless signal you log into the access point's management webpage and set up the encryption.
