I suppose I could also do that and just make a second network, because it’s really only 1 room and 1 device where I have this issue. My fiancé’s work laptop. I’ll consider that too! Thanks for all your help!

In those circumstances, I'd give Powerline Ethernet a whirl. It can turn the mains power circuit into fake computer network. If the mains is up to it, Powerline can be more reliable, and quicker, than WiFi.

I use Powerline for things that do not move around. TV, media player, Mesh satellite, receiver for Arlo camera base stations.
Has none of the hassle that goes with setting up wifi, and is less likely to fall over through interference. You can even get plugs that a built in wireless access point.
Not happy with wiring that has to cross isolators, fuse boxes and trips. But contrary to Netgea's warnings they don't have problems with dumb extension blocks.
