MS60 connecting to non-Netgear router?

Can I use the MS60 satellites to extend the wifi of a different brand wifi router/firewall?

Interesting enough, the MK series was one of the first released easymesh routers that was supposed to be compatible with other easymesh devices. Sadly, it never really reached enough maturity to actually be beneficial&nbsp;
