You've got a bunch of options.
Basically any extender that supports ap mode and has ethernet connection would work.
You don't have to have a triband extender, you can use a dual band.
It just comes down to what performance/budget you have in mind for your garage connection.

I decided on the EX8000 now, but out of stock. I can get a second AC3200 (Model#R8000) for about the same price, can I just use the Two AC3200's? one as my main router and the second as a Access Point. For only a $20 price difference I would prefer the two AC3200's, I just don't want to make it too difficult to set up and or have conflicts between the two..

The R8000 has access point mode so you'd connect it up the same and just run in it access point mode. Plus then if the primary router ever kicked the bucket, you'd have a backup router.
