Need help please with static IP
Hi, I just picked up a Nexus 7 tablet and I love it. Only problem is, I keep getting the same error when trying to access the net, 'obtaining IP address' over and over. I have the router wgr614 v7...
Although Jim is correct in pointing you to the correct subforum of the WGR614, your question is related to a general AP issue of wireless security.
Because you probably will take your tablet on the road to shops, malls and other hotspot WiFi locations, I wouldn't recommend using static settings. That's a preferably non-mobile device configuration.
It also will not solve the problem of possible WiFi security settings incompatibilities !!
Check the security settings specifications of the tablet if it supports WPA.
I seem to remember that the rather old WGR614v7 does not support the more common and more recent WPA2 protocol that is used in all modern mobile devices.....
