Which one? The R6100 is a router, not an extender. The EX6100 is as extender. But there are other "6100s".

How do I perform a factory reset on my NETGEAR router? | Answer | NETGEAR Support
For more details, manuals are always a good place to start.

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Look for the model number on the label on the device.
You may have done that already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear gave up on supplying paper manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

You have the EX6100? or what model do you have?
What new router did you get (model)?
Factory reset the extender and set it up using the installation assistant.
To factory reset, push and hold the reset button for 7-15 seconds while powered on.
Here's a video of how to use the assistant.

PLEASE HELP!
I have a ASUS router and a Netgear 6100 extender and had to factory reset the extender. Now I can see it on my laptop WiFi list but when I click it I'm not prompted to add password (as all assistants and guides say) but just get a screen saying "can't access url".
When I go on the ASUS WiFi and log on to "mywifiext" I just get that I am "not connected to your extender's WiFi network". What am I doing wrong?
I've tried from my iPhone as well, the 2G SSID opens a login page but then says "Error when page opened, cannot connect to server". The 5G SSID keeps spinning/waiting
Thank you!!!

Is that the EX6100 that plemans mentioned?
Whatever it is, you would do better to start your own conversation rather than hijacking an existing discussion.
After you reset the thing, did you take it through the setup process?

That page will also have any software, firmware and drivers for your device, if they exist.
Begin with the Quick Start/Installation Guide.
There may also be some helpful videos on what to do.
