Netgear C7000v2 and EX6400v3

This is how to disable the mesh function:
Then you simply set it with a separate ssid.
Its easy enough to know if you're connected to 2.4ghz or 5ghz if they have different names

Are you connecting to the 2.4ghz or the 5ghz?
2.4ghz is much much slower and sensitive to interference. Its not the network to use for streaming.
If it was me, I'd setup the EX6400 and disable its "mesh" or "single ssid" function. Leave it as a separate network so you can connect just the devices that are further away to it.

Is there a way to do that without have to run Cat 5 as I am not able to do so do to the location of the other room.

Thank you so much for the information, followed some very easy directions and this seems to of solved the lagging issue with extender to router.
