Netgear EAX18 mesh extender setup has slower speed

I recently upgraded my Verizon wifi to 1G. When I turn on my Netgear extender, my speeds drop to below 100Mbps. I tried reconfiguring it, but no help there. 

We have the typical 2.4 and 5G networks.

I only need this to connect an AirTV to pick up local channels. To pick up 1 channel, it has to be in the top corner of the house. 

Any thoughts?
