Netgear EX 6400 V3 extender
Trying to set up the extender to a Netgear RAX70 Router. I have tried WPS and manual connection, and the only way I can get into it is with an Ethernet cable. I got it registered and programmed it ...

Thank you very much for your reply.
I set the extender up again with WPS and moved it to the area where my signal was bad.
Now I can access the internet and sites without a problem, where I couldn't do that before.
I had never used a mesh anything and didn't know what it was or how it worked.
I have a neighbor who is looking at this same extender, so I will pass information on to him.
Thank you again.

A couple things.
1. None of netgears support options are $300. What we see happen frequently is people google for a netgear support and get a number that goes to scam/con sites. If they're trying to charge you or access your computer, hang up. New devices have 90 days of free support. After that, for cheaper items, the forums are better.
2. If its working with an ethernet connection wired to it, it means its setup in access point mode. On the V3, there's a switch on the side to switch between access point mode and extender mode. You're wanting extender mode. So flip the switch. Then factory reset the device to clear out the old details. While powered on, push and hold reset for 7-15 seconds until the lights change. Then retry setup with the assistant
3. What router is it connected to? lately, because of AX and BE routers, I've been seeing users trying to connect them to device running wpa3 only. That extender would need the router in wpa2/wpa3 mixed mode to connect
4. What error do you get during setup or what are you seeing during setup so it isn't finishing? How do you know it isn't working properly?

Thank you for that information; you are correct about who I talked to. After checking that number, it was a scam but they made it look like a real Netgear support site.
I reset the unit to extender from Access Point. I don't know if it came like that or I had fat fingered it?
I went through the WEP setup and can now see the extender wireless without the 0X61011 error coming up.
I am confused about not being able to see it on my router's attached devices or on available networks, so I can connect directly to the extender.?
It's been a long time since I used an extender so thinking things may have changed.
Thanks again for the information.
Very much appreciated.

That extender is a mesh extender. Meaning if you set it up in default or wps mode, it'll use the exact same ssid as the router and not show up separately. You can disable that if you access it.
You're not able to see it in your connected devices through the router? What router is it? It might not show up with the same name depending on how the router identifies it.
What are the led's on the extender showing? There's a device and a router light.
