Netgear EX3110
EX3110 WIFI range extender, set it up with MOTOROLA ROUTER MG7315.
The router only mentions 2.4GHz, no mention of 5GHz. I do not think it is a dual band router. So, how did the EX3110 extender connect to the "5GEXT" extender network?
I looked again at the router's manual and browsed around the admin tool for the router, and couldn't find 5GHz channel mentioned anywhere. I'm not complaining, because the 5GEXT is between 50-100MB/Sec, but wondering where the 5GHz is coming from.

The EX3110 can use the 2.4ghz as the backhaul connect to the router and the 5ghz as the primary connection.
similar to how its fastlane setup works. You do get better speed than connecting just to the 2.4ghz because it doesn't take the same speed hit extenders take when they have to use the same chip to go router---->extender and then extender----->device.
And you're right, that router isn't dual band. pretty base model modem/router combo device.
