The modem/router doesn’t have a WPS button so I don’t know what pushing the button on the extender would do. …And it did nothing. Just tried it. Also did the factory reset earlier. Can’t get to the assistant page online.

If you hit the wps, then reset it.
did you try a different device for setup? Like a pc/laptop?
What are the leds on the extender doing? (color/blinking/etc)

I turned it off and on, reset (held button ‘til power button was flashing orange), let go, waited a bit for the green power light to stay lit. Only other light is the one in the upper right corner with the right-pointing arrow - it’s green. Tried connecting to mywifiext on my Mac mini (on both Safari and Firefox). It brought up a screen that flashed a msg about Java script (See att. pic). It’s an old computer. Then it showed the msg. - A problem occurred. The webpage couldn’t be loaded. OK. Tried mywifiext.local and it didn’t load at all.

wow that really must be an old device. Time to try a newer device or even your phone (turn off its cellular for setup)

Didn’t work on my iPhone after turning off cellular - it didn’t connect to the extender wifi so there was no signal when I tried mywifiext. When I click on the name of the extender wifi (as it spins, trying to connect), it brings up a page saying it’s an unsecured network. (See att.)
