Netgear Genie constantly pop-up

I can't get rid of a pop-up on my Mac that reads: "NETGEAR Genie is searching for WiFi networks in your neighborhood.
This takes approximately 1 minute."

I've used a range extender for a few years, but it's not a Genie and this pop up has never appeared before. The list of WiFi networks it suggests does not include my account and it's impossible to complete the process of adding my account.

Any thoughts, Netgear?

    Hi Mcoo,

    1. What NETGEAR device do you have installed?

    2. If you have a NETGEAR Genie app installed, you can try uninstalling it.

It's a WN3500RP Universal Dual Band WiFi Range Extender, Wall-plug Edition.

I temporarily solved the problem via but it's back. If produces a list of nearby Wifi options -- often failing to include my own. When I try to complete the options it times out and starts again a few minutes later.
