100ft is quite a ways with it being wireless as well as exterior walls tend to block wifi the best. Reason why is the insulation, the exterior covering material (cement board, metal siding, adobe, brick, etc all block wifi very well)
What is the exterior of the home made from and what is the garage exterior made from?
Its kind of key as you can sometimes get wifi to transmit that far but if the exterior is made from those materials it usually degrades the signal to much.
Then you start looking at point to point systems to connect the two buildings. (like netgear's airbridge)
Which can get expensive. Suddenly buring a wire and adding an access point or hardwiring in an extender becomes feasible.
