Ok. That's a 300N router (2.4 ghz only, 802.11n). The WN3000RP or the EX2700 would be reasonable choices.

Extenders are placed in between the dead spot and the router - they need to make a solid connection to both, so they can relay the wifi. I suggest going to the likely locations for the extender before you purchase, and then test the wifi speed/connection at that place with a laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Speedtest.net is a useful tool for this.
If you can't find a good location for the extender, then powerline networking is another approach. That extends your network over your home's electrical wiring. The PLW1000 would be a good option here. It has two plug-in modules. You put one at the router, and connect it with ethernet. The second is a wifi module that you plug in at dead spot.

Thank you. Exactly the information I was looking for. I live in the middle of nowhere on the Eastern Shore of Virginia so DSL is currently the best solution available to me. I just need to boost the signal and your answer solves that problem for me.
