I wish to upgrade the wireless access point on my system so that I can connect devices in Wireless-N mode in the hope it will improve connection speed and interference issues - currently I use a WG602...

both are Access Point and not router so not sure what you are trying to achieve.
wifi devices must capable of those bands. 5Ghz are usually specify dual band wifi adapter or spec will states both band is supported.
so only you may interested in dual band router but wifi device must support both band to have versatile setups
*. 5Ghz do have less range as well so keep that in mind compare to 2.4Ghz
