Netgear XR500 + EX8000 "Mesh" setup question

Hi guys! I purchased an XR500 a few months go and have been loving it for gaming. The only issue I've had with it is that it doesn't cover my entire house with a good WIFI signal. Today I purchased a Netgear EX8000 under the impression it will work with my XR500 as a one wifi name "mesh" type network similar to orbi with seamless switching. I've looked at the documentation and searched online but can't seem to find the best possible way to acomplish this. The location I wish to setup the EX8000 has a hardwired CAT6 cable I ran from the XR500. Should I use the CAT6 cable to supply the EX8000 or do I have to use WIFI signal to get the "mesh" network? I've seen some people say it woiuld act as an access point, does this mean it wouldn't wokrk seamlessly. I'm just looking to complete my setup with the best possible conenction with one wifi name and seamless. Thanks for any help!
