new desktop router issues
After getting a new router for my desktop, my netgear router light won't light up after reseting netgear AC750, and pushing the WPS button on my desktop router. The power light and WPS light are sol...

1. What model is this new router?
2. Firmware on the router?
3. Firmware and model number of your extender? AC750 is a speed, not a model.
4. Did you try setting up the extender using the smart connect wizard? This usually works when wps doesn't.
the support site has videos of both wps and smart wizard installation. go to netgear.com/support/ type in your actual model number and it'll have install guides, videos, firmware, manuals, etc.

The new router is issued by Charter, no model number. The extender is a EX3700. I'm not sure about firmware, or how to check that, I'm just a civilian. But I will check out that video you mentioned. Thanks.

I followed the instructions for setting up the netgear devise, I couldn't do the ethernet cable way, because I don't have one. But I followed the directions for the other way, but the router light never came on. The devise light came on for a minute and then shut off again. The power light and the wps light both came on.

what "other way"? Be specific. I'm not watching what your doing. Did you do it via the smart connection wizard, wps, what exactly did you do? where in the process is it failing?
There should be some type of model on the spectrum box. This is kind of key as the router is the backbone for the extender. A crappy router is going to cause you to have a crappy/bad extender.
Firmware is the coding that runs the device. It needs to be updated sometimes especially if you've got a new device.
Here's the support site to get new firmware. The manual walks you through installing it.

So a funny thing. After many failed attemps, I left the netgear on my desk next to the router and modem, pluged into power, and left to watch the end of the Rose Bowl. When I came back a couple of hours later, it had hooked itself up and is working fine. I have no idea how.
