New DST Range Extender
Does anyone know if the new DST wireless adapter work with a Nighthawk AC3200?
My biggest question here is whether my existing R7000 router will be able to support DST via a firmware update or do I need a brand-new R7300 router to support DST via some sort of hardware improvement. I am guessing the answer is that I would need to be a new router although I would like an answer back from Netgear on this.
There's no way the R7000 can support DST via a firmware update. It lacks the hardware to support Powerline networking.
Since you already own the R7000, you would be better off buying a pair of Powerline adapters than upgrading to the R7300. The R7300 is just a R7000 with a built-in Powerline adapter. It looks like there are already newer Powerline adapters available that are faster than what the R7300 supports.
