Nighthawk AC1900 or Nighthawk A6S - Which is best
I have Spectrum internet and would like to extend my network into my basement. Also get full capability and single network name/option. Right now my extender is only picking up the 2G and not the 5...

The EX8000 is going to have more performance because of its tri-band capability. it reserves 1 of the 5ghz bands just for communication with the router. This reduces latency and increases bandwidth.
the EX7000 is a dual band extender. You can offset a little of its latency increase by using its own fastlane setup but then you lose out on a band.
If it was me? I'd probably bo with the tri-band for an extender.

A6S and AC1900 aren't model numbers.
What models are you looking at?
You've also put that your extender is only picking up the 2.4ghz and not the 5ghz. but you didn't put which extender you currently have. Maybe you're extender isn't dual band? Or maybe the extender is far enough away to not pick up 5ghz? 2.4ghz broadcasts further and through more materials than 5ghz but is slower.
we don't really know since you didn't put what you currently have or much else for details.

My current extender will only pick up 2.4g since it is older. The two models I tried to reference were the EX7000 and the EX8000. I hope that helps and I really appreciate yor response.
