So I’ve recently got the EX8000 to boost my WiFi in my room but when I use the app it says my firmware needs and update and to go to the website where I can update it. I can view my extender there but...

So try the manual update. 

here's the support site.

click on downloads and download the most recent firmware and extract how I listed prior. 

Page 43 of the manual walks you through manually updating the firmware. Try this method.

Ok sorry for leaving you hanging. I was doing what you said but it took longer then I thought but it did in fact work. Thanks so much for taking the time to help me with this. Hope you and yours are ok during these trying times ! 🤙
