Nighthawk AX8 - as a WIFI extender

I have an extra Nighthawk AX8 that seemingly went south.  I bought another Netgear model.

I see where an AX8 can be configured as an access point fed by a cable, but before I put any more time to play with this, can I configure it to be a WIFI extender.
