nighthawk ex7700 problems staying connected to SKY Q Box

very recently bought the above model. it is connected to the sky router wirelessly however having problems staying connected to the sky q box- when televistion/sky is turned off - there is no connection when turned on again

which sky q box is it?
My understanding of sky broadband boxes is that they don't play nice with others. They have their own line of boosters and designed their boxes to work well with their equipment but not 3rd party equipment.
