Nighthawk X4 login proble

Update to this product.

I’ve had this product replaced by netgear. Just so you know they replaced it for free but made me pay the shipping costs. Glad they exchanged it but it was a broken/inferior item so they should have paid the shipping too.

This product worked for a few months after I received the new/remanufactured one. I’m still having the same problems now as before. Range is terrible for the beam forming fast highway feature. Much slower than LTE. Possibly on the 3G side of slow if not slower. I still have the netgear R 8500 router which is connected to a gigabit speed internet connection. That’s 1000 MB for those that do t know what Gigabit speed is. NOW there’s a new problem. I can’t log Into the router extender. I’m on the same Wi-Fi network as the router extender and my login and password won’t work. The recovery questions that I entered to recover my password won’t work. Every time I want to change a setting or check for firmware updates, I ha e to completely wipe clean my settings and start over from scratch because this is the only way to bypass the password settings. This isn’t a one time problem. I ha e to do this EVERY TIME. I always copy my password and login for this device in a secured location and every time my password won’t work. I downgraded this device from two stars to one. It’s just not worth it and still has way too many kinks to be ready for the market.

I'm not very satisfied with this purchase. I bought it to increase the quality of signal on my back porch and it makes only a slight difference. Where it is placed it receives good signal from my R8500 router but still doesn't push out a quality signal. I wanted better signal on my back porch because the 8500 just had to push through too many walls. I installed this item approximately 18 feet from where I sit on my back porch with the exterior wall being the only wall it has to penetrate. There is really no difference in the signal from my advanced R8500 to this extender. Occasionally I'll get an additional bar but it's not consistent. So I guess it's a range extender. Just an extender with a very weak transmitter. PS. I even used the advanced mode set up.

  • Hi Rotorwng1,

Do you have latest firmware installed on extender? If so, modify wireless channel on router to check if that helps.
