NTV300SL is not connecting to wifi

I reset to factory settings and am not able to connect to wifi during quick set up.  It finds my network but says it fails to find IP address.  I've tried the WPS Protected Setup too.  Also I couldn't get the keyboard on the remote to work, even though the unlock key was illuminated.  Is it possible and necessary to buy a new remote control?  I wasn't able to fine an app on the apple apps.
