Yes, moving the Hub to the center of the space is a better solution than using an old WiFi extender.

That extender isn't just old (11 years and 4 generations of devices), its incredible slow. Unless you're connecting it to IoT devices, I'd get rid of it. It's ridiculously slow, and anything connected to it is going to perform horribly. Is it worth the fight to get it working if it's going to drag the network down?
