Problem with Extender EX7700 setup
I just noticed this during the setup of my new EX7700 extender to my Netgear Router R7960P. I used the smart setup, which worked fine, and it shows the connection up and running. BUT....I noticed...

You don't.
its designed for 1 of the 5ghz bands to be in the lower 5ghz band and the other 5ghz to be the upper.
Or they'd interfere with each other and cause issues.
If they were able to be on the same channels, they wouldn't be able to broadcast at the same time and it'd be pointless to have a tri-band router.

Thank you for the useful information.
I was just confused then why NETGEAR (while using the Smart Setup for my Extender) would reply on the final page, that indicates the connection is up and running the following highlighted infomation "To get the best WIFI performance from your router, change the 5 ghz WIFI channel on the router to between channels 100 to 165". Then the picture (on that page) show's my router connected to the extender with the 2.4 and 5 ghz in green, and then shows my Router with the "Channel 44" indicated for the 5ghz-1 channel.
After reading that during the install, it appeared to me that Netgear is telling me to change my "Channel 44" to the higher channel number.
Confusing then.

You can set your 5ghz-2 on the router to the 100's channel.
And use that for the extender backhaul. You might need to re-run setup since your changing bands.

Thank you once again.
I will keep it as it is.. Because my 5gbz-2 is already assigned a 100's channel and 5gbz-1 was assigned the channel 44. I can live seeing that netgear advisement whenever I go to the smart setup. thanks again.
