R7900 Nighthawk slow wifi with mesh ex8000

Hello all!   So I recently upgraded my Centurylink to 140/20MB/s.  My setup is their technicolor C2100T (wifi antennas disabled) to my Nighthawk X6 R7900 that is in "wireless access point" setting.  ...

Have you checked to see if you are connecting to the R7900 on one of the two 5 Ghz channels?

    Yes, I have done a speed test on all 3 bands. 2.4 only pulls 40MB/s. It's ridiculous, I'm loosing so much bandwidth because it isn't transmitted

      Not exactly what I asked.  If the extender is reasonably close to the router, then it should be dedicating one of it's radios for the extender<->router backhaul (that's called "fastlane3" by Netgear.  If you can see the radio being used on the R7900 device list, it would show the extender as being connected over 5 Ghz.

       

      I'm wanting to confirm that setup.
