What speeds do you pay for?
I never recommend using more than 1 range extender as they'll drop speeds and increase latency. And the older ones aren't "mesh" so cause more SSID's.
If you're still using old enough stuff that they aren't mesh, I'm betting your gear is a bit older. If it was me, I'd move to a half decent mesh system like Orbi with a dedicated backhaul.
that'd be the triband versions or even quad band. You can pickup used or refurbished last generation devices that will be a pretty rock solid upgrade fo ryou. I've seen the 753/763 for around that $200 and the 853/863 for around that $350. Which are both pretty solid options
