Need AC3200 range extender with removable antennas
I just hooked up a Nighthawk X6 R8000 router in the house. For decades I've used various range extenders to get Internet over to my office which is in a separate building on the farm. Currently I hav...

If you've only got 25mbps, that's still going to be your best bet because all netgear's stuff is moving to the internal antenna setup.
Are you trying to use the wireless from the extender in the garage as well? If so, that'll drop your speeds 50% because of how single/dual band extenders work (unless using fast lane).
But a point to point might not be a bad idea still. If there's to much interference on the 5ghz, they do make 2.4ghz based ones. And 2.4ghz should saturate 25mbps without much problem using a point to point system.
You'd mount the one in the house and the other on the pole (from your blog). Then run a wire from the one on the pole into the garage and put a simple access point there. I've actually done that before when I needed to run around 500ft and it worked fine.

Thank you for your suggestions.
I'm not worried about maxing out my pathetic 25Mbps Internet access.
I'm worried about transferring terabytes of data between house and office.
I just need an AC3200 or more tri-band range extender with threaded on antennas. If Netgear is going the low quality pressed on or internal only path, then I need a different manufacturer.
Thank you for your time and effort. I know what I need, I'm just asking for model identification. Most of the outdoor point-to-point systems cap out at AC1200. I already have that. I'm looking for more.

I'm not trying to be a pain but you're wanting to cobble together a system to move terabytes of data between the 2 buildings but not wanting to actual use a system designed for it. Extenders broadcast omnidirectional. Even when you upgrade the antenna's. Versus just buying a point to point system that are directional and would achieve your purpose with stability/speed that you're wanting if you're moving that much data.
If you're truly dedicated to using an extender, then you would need to look elsewhere as the higher performing extenders all have internal antenna's from netgear.
Or get a router that supports extender mode and has external antennas.
Or just bury the cable between the 2x points. If its under 300ft, you can connect it with ethernet and then you won't have to worry about data loss/interference.
