Reconnecting NETGEAR EAX15v2: can't see NETGEAR_EXT

NETGEAR EAX15v2 – AX1800 Dual-band WiFi Mesh Extender used to work smoothly until a recent power outage. Following the outage, only the Power and WPS lights were green, while Router and Client Link lights remained off.

In an attempt to resolve this, I decided to factory reset the extender. However, things have taken a turn for the worse since then:

  1. NETGEAR_EXT Not Visible
  2. WPS Connection Failure

Things I've tried so far:

  • Attempted multiple factory resets, holding the reset button for varying durations (7-15 seconds and even up to 30 seconds) while the extender is powered on.
  • Nighthawk app, which keeps saying that it can't establish a connection with NETGEAR_EXT.
  • Plugged in a wired connection to the extender to identify its IP address for setup. However, each time I try, I'm met with an empty list of networks. Even after manually inputting network names and security details, I receive an error stating that the extender can't access the networks.
  • Tried configuring the extender in access point mode, but that resulted in a "Network Connection Issue" error.
  • Manually updating the firmware (although it was already at v.1.0.3.34)
  • Completely reset the router – TP-LINK Archer VR1600v

Another extender on the opposite side of the house is working perfectly fine. Just to clarify, I've been switching off the functioning extender while trying to set up the problematic EAX15v2.

For all I know, the EAX15v2 might be broken, but just like they say "NEVER BACK DOWN NEVER GIVE UP..." 😁
