You purchased a high-end router. It has more capacity than your Spectrum. It could have some more range in the 5 Ghz band, but I don't think it will help much with the Ring doorbell, etc.
You could of course try the R8900 and see. But I think a better plan would be to exchange for for a product that can expand your range.
One option is to get a WiFi extender (for example the EX7500). You'd put that somewhere between your router and your outdoor devices, and it would relay the traffic from them to your router.
A second option is to get an Orbi wifi system, and deploy it as an "access point" - using it for wifi instead of your Spectrum router. There are several models that could work - if you are interested in exploring that, please give us some more information on the size of your home (square feet of coverage area, number of floors, and whether you have indoor dead spots in addition to issues reaching outside).
