Have you tried a different switch?
Or different cabling?
What firmware is on the router?
What switch is it?
I believe the cable is working as I have plugged my computer into it and I get a connection.
I do not have another switch.
The the software is version 1.1.0.66_1.0.1
The switch is a TP-Link TL-R860

that's not a switch.
Its a dsl/cable router

plus its only a 10/100mbps device.
A cheap 8 port gigabit unmanaged switch can usually be purchased for under 20.
You potentially could get it working properly but buying a proper switch is what I'd recommend.
