Set Up Extender with Nighthawk - Not seeing a network with _EXT

Hello - Just completed an extremely easy set up of a EX6150v2 with the Nighthawk app. What I am not seeing on my network list in the WiFi Network availability area in Settings on my i phone, for example, is my network name with the extension _EXT.

Should it be there to connect to or due to Nighthawk set up, was there an automatic connection without creating an extension network.

How can I be sure the extender is actually working?

Thanks in advance.

Is the extender showing the same SSID as the router?

Netgear turned the EX6150v2 into a Mesh Extender with newer firmware. (The manual says nothing about this but there is a reference in the Data Sheet.) The whole idea of Mesh is to have a "seamless" wifi network that clients can move around without having to switch between SSIDs. "Smart Roaming with One WiFi Name."

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

    Check for various troubleshooting tips.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

michaelkenward is correct. If you set it up with the default configuration, you set it up in mesh mode. Mesh means it'll have the exact same ssid/password as the primary network and allow devices to roam between it and the router.

If you want to check how its running you can log into it. either try mywifiext . net or using its ip address (found in the routers attached devices list).

If you're not wanting to run in mesh mode, you can disable it.
