A recent artricle on the AARP Bulletin made me wonder if I had been scammed by Soft Tree so I went to the Netgear site and found that others had been taken advantage of by Soft Tree.
Like others I believed that Soft Tree was connected to Netgear and allowed the representative to take control of my computer in July of 2019. The representative had me change my WiFi network password with ATT. I have a Freeze on my accounts due to the Equifax hack a few years ago and I haven't noticed any problems, but I wondered if there is anything else I need to do to protect myself from Soft Tree.
Thank you

There's really a lot of opportunist online. The best practice that we can advise is to make sure to visit the official website of the manufacturer next time. We really do apologize again for this one. For further assistance, please contact our Support team: http://www.netgear.com/support/contact.aspx
Please do not hesitate to let me know if you need further assistance.
