smallnetbuilder does very good detail oriented reviews. There was a review of both the EX6100 and EX6150 done, between the 2 it should give you a rough idea of how they perform under ideal testing conditions. Its worth reading as they go over testing methodology, values, issues, etc.
And its hard to tell someone why their device isn't functioning as it should if we don't have details.
You say its slow than your router. Its going to be. An extender has to recieve and retransmit a signal so its going to take a 50% throughput hit. If you're living in an apartment, usually there isn't a need for an extender because they're really only helpful in reaching extended ranges. As well as there tends to be a lot of wireless interference in apartment complexes. This causes slow downs too.
