Trying to reset my password for PLW 1000

I am trying to reset my password for my Netgear PLW 1000 and when I go to  the screen to reset it aks for my old password and I type in the password found on the device then type in new password by I keep getting an error message that old password is not correct but this is the password I used to log into the device for wifi. Anyone have any suggestions on how to resovle this issue. Thanks in advance

    There is a misunderstanding: The one you use to associate clients to the PLW1000 wireless is the wireless security key - this is random preconfigured on the Netgear wireless devices, while for the Web based administration, the username is admin, and the default password is: password ... so try admin password or admin and your potential own password here.
