trying to update firmware and the link to the wifi ext is not working
my laptop is connected directly to my wifi range extender via ethernet cable. Why can i not access the extender.It keeps saying I am not directly connected! HELP!! netgear support was no help. ...
Do you still have your wifi turned on? maybe the wifi is directly connecting back to your router.
well, i have my ethernet cable plugged directly from range extender to laptop, so not sure if wifi is still on or not? What is best way to ensure the laptop is only using the wifi extender connection?
go into your laptops network connections and disable the wifi adapter from there. you can reenable after you get it setup.
otherwise your laptop could have the wireless connected back to the router and the ethernet to the extender.

yeah, wifi is off. i am hard wired into the range extender, via ethernet cable, and i still cannot accees the site netgear wants me to open up so i can update the firmware, check settings. I just want to be able to log into their reccomended site.
